OUR AMAZING AMBASSADORS

The DLMA’s Ambassador Program is a volunteer program designed to welcome the world to Downtown Langley. In their brightly coloured blue shirts and jackets the Ambassadors show hospitality and good will in the Business Improvement Area (BIA).

The Ambassadors are back!

Providing a sense of community, taking care of business and making sure the welcome mat is open to Langley City is what the Downtown Ambassador program is all about. From April to September, the Ambassadors cover the 1 square mile radius of the business improvement area of Langley. They hand out tourist information and assist local people with directions to find what they need in our compact downtown.

The ambassador program is model of what some European cities use extensively and our compact downtown is considered a perfect fit for this program. The program is similar to those in place in Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, and Maple Ridge. How our program differs is that our group is the only all-volunteer group in British Columbia. The other groups are paid staff and focus more on security and crime prevention

While the Ambassador’s primary job is to be a welcoming committee, they also assist in keeping the city clean by spotting and reporting graffiti. They help with all Langley Community events. In association with ICBC, the volunteers also take part in “Lock Out Auto Crime”. Once a month, a blitz is conducted in a city parking lot and the volunteers hand out crime prevention notices.
