FAQs

What is the McBurney Plaza Summer Series?
It is a series of 5 events that run during the summer months in Downtown Langley.  This series is presented by the Downtown Langley Business Association and the City of Langley.

What is new for 2018?
This year, the McBurney Plaza Summer Series will include three afternoon, family friendly events and 2 evening, adult only events.

Why are there 3 afternoon events and 2 evening events this year?
While we have reduced the afternoon events to 3, we have added 2 evening events into this event series. After the wildly successful ‘Dueling Pianos in the Plaza’ event last fall, we have heard from an overwhelming number of attendees and local business owners that wanted to see more balance between family friendly community events and adult focused community events in the City of Langley.

Will the afternoon events be the same as last year?
This event series has a track record of providing an interactive, memorable experience to attendees. The afternoon events will continue to be free, family friendly events full of high caliber entertainment.

Do I need a ticket to attend the afternoon events?
No.  All afternoon events are family friendly and free to attend.

Why are tickets required for the evening events?
As the evening events are 19+ events, we create a closed event by fencing off the event area.  To ensure we stay within the required capacity for this enclosed event space, we require attendees to purchase a ticket. Thanks to our sponsors (including presenting sponsors - the Downtown Langley Business Association and the City of Langley) we are able to set our ticket price at just $10, and a portion of ticket proceeds is donated to a local charity.

Evening Event

Lively music, traditional dancing and a whole lot of fun! Join us in McBurney Plaza for a memorable Celtic themed evening including live entertainment, craft beer, local wine and delicious street food.

The talented Blackthorn Band opens the evening. With an extensive repertoire rooted in the musical traditions of Scotland their lively jigs and reels will have you dancing the moment you arrive.  "Shot of Scotch" Premier Scottish Highland Dancers will join them on stage for a performance you will remember.

The Pacific Northwest’s own acoustic power trio Tillers Folly will keep the crowd singing and dancing as they take the stage.  Tillers Folly is the preeminent Canadian based award winning Americana/Folk/Celtic group at the forefront of a bold new movement in acoustic roots music.

The Whiskey Richards will keep the party going until the last note is played.  This group of Celtic Gypsy party rockers has spent the better part of a decade carving a reputation for themselves as “One Heck of a Good Time”. The Whiskey Richards use fiery celtic-gypsy fiddle licks, cello played like a bass, bombastic trumpet, vivacious drum beats, energetic guitar strumming, and voice to tell stories of good times past and to play songs people know but in a way they’d never imagine.  Be sure to come to this event ready for a great night that you will never forget!
