The McBurney Plaza Summer Series

FAQs

What is the McBurney Plaza Summer Series?
It is a series of 5 events that run during the summer months in Downtown Langley.  This series is presented by the Downtown Langley Business Association and the City of Langley.

What is new for 2018?
This year, the McBurney Plaza Summer Series will include three afternoon, family friendly events and 2 evening, adult only events.

Why are there 3 afternoon events and 2 evening events this year?
While we have reduced the afternoon events to 3, we have added 2 evening events into this event series. After the wildly successful ‘Dueling Pianos in the Plaza’ event last fall, we have heard from an overwhelming number of attendees and local business owners that wanted to see more balance between family friendly community events and adult focused community events in the City of Langley.

Will the afternoon events be the same as last year?
This event series has a track record of providing an interactive, memorable experience to attendees. The afternoon events will continue to be free, family friendly events full of high caliber entertainment.

Do I need a ticket to attend the afternoon events?
No.  All afternoon events are family friendly and free to attend.

Why are tickets required for the evening events?
As the evening events are 19+ events, we create a closed event by fencing off the event area.  To ensure we stay within the required capacity for this enclosed event space, we require attendees to purchase a ticket. Thanks to our sponsors (including presenting sponsors - the Downtown Langley Business Association and the City of Langley) we are able to set our ticket price at just $10, and a portion of ticket proceeds is donated to a local charity.

Just a Season

A “ringer” in the west coast music scene, Scott Smith has helped make a lot of other people sound great over the years. Between Barney Bentall, Aaron Pritchett, Rich Hope and His Blue Rich Rangers, Bocephus King and others, he’s been flipping between guitar and pedal steel while casually raising the bar with lightning technique and unfailing good taste. Recently, Scott switched positions, from shadowy sideman to the spotlighted lead, proving himself a songwriter first and foremost.   At all times, Just a Season is characterized by that rarest of qualities, where a relaxed feel is somehow produced out of the stealthiest musicianship.
